Katy Smith
PT, DPT, CMPT, CDNS, BRM
I have been practicing physical therapy in the greater Seattle area since 2015 and have worked in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient orthopedics, sports physical therapy, manual therapy and skilled nursing. I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life, both young and old, and it is my desire to help you achieve your personal goals by establishing a personalized plan of care to meet your needs. I believe in a multi-faceted approach that includes a combination of manual therapy techniques in conjunction with an individualized exercise program tailored to you. As a high-level martial artist, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I especially enjoy working with mixed martial artists. I strongly believe that if you address injuries early on, regardless of the sport, you can prevent them from becoming chronic issues.
I am a lifelong learner and am passionate about learning new skills to provide top quality care for my patients. I have a background in Pilates, via the STOTT method; I hold a level 1 BikePT certification for bike fitting, which I obtained from the industry recognized expert Erik Moen; I am a certified manual physical therapist through NAIOMT; I have a certificate in the Barbell Rehab Method; and I am a certified dry needling specialist.
Outside the clinic my main passion is training BJJ and frequently you can find me on the mats getting ready for a local or national tournament. My other past times include snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, riding my bike, running, playing in my garden, harvesting avocados in my family’s orchard and painting porcelain with my 96 year old grandma.
I specialize in treating patients from all walks of life, but have a unique insight and skill set to work with combat sport athletes (BJJ, judo, mixed martial artists, etc.)
